Weber: Getting Serious About Grilling Food

For all of you grillers out there, you will be excited to check out Weber’s new store and training center along Joo Chiat Road. This world’s premier brand of barbecue grills is not only offering high-quality grills to those living in Singapore but also workshop and classes for you to get a taste of the best grilling experiences at their retail space.

We were there a couple of days back to participate in their interactive hands-on sessions on grilling all types of food from meat, vegetables to even cookies! These sessions are open to the public for free and they are held twice a month. It will be a great platform for any barbecue enthusiasts to master the art of grilling as well as for those who are new to grilling (like myself) to experience the magic of the grilling.

In fact, grilling is also a form of healthy cooking method if you use wholesome natural ingredients and less oil. It is just another way of heating up the food using direct heat either from the burning charcoal or gas.

Weber Grill has just introduced their 3 ‘Hero’ grills – Original Kettle Premium, Genesis® S-330 gas Grill and Weber® Q®  1200 Gas grill. And they all come in several dimensions and sizes suitable for any venues.

That evening we made ourselves 3 dishes which were cooked by the Weber grills. It was an eye-opening experience to watch how the grills work to cook our food to perfection. For that evening’s menu, we had Phoenix Chicken, Twin Treasures Seafood, and CNY cookies.

Their training center for hands-on cooking session or demonstration is quite conducive and they even had a dining table for you to sit down and enjoy your food.

The recipes were handed out to us so that we can bring home and replicate the dishes at home too! Aprons were provided and all ingredients are partially prepared prior the cooking session so grilling is almost like a breeze. We also had Chef Nicholas Pang to guide as well. He is responsible for curating a wide variety of tasty recipes for barbecuing, including appetizers, main courses, desserts and side dishes.

Because the cooking session was hands-on and Chef Pang was super patient, we had a fun time preparing our own dishes and learning useful cooking tips from Chef Pang.

It was Sam’s first time cooking and I think he did pretty well, considering that he can only cook instant noodles on his own.

The most tiring part is creaming the butter with the eggs and sugar together. We beat the mixture with a large spatula manually. Results? We had quite yummy CNY cookies.

When you are handling the grill, you might need a pair of silicon gloves to protect yourself from getting scalded from the heat.

Outcome? The Phoenix Chicken turned out really tender, soft and juicy. The meat was cooked evenly throughout.

The Twin treasures seafood which consists of fresh prawns and fish also turns out really good, almost like it’s being steamed and the moisture is still trapped due to the paper wrap.

And you get a great satisfaction from tasting your own cooked food which is prepared by your own hands. And if you are into grilled food and barbecue, you would appreciate how delicious grilled food can taste. And it’s nice just to grill food together with your family and friends; enjoying the warmth from the grill and hot food that comes right out of the grill. I guess that’s the beauty of grilling as many people can help to grill food at the same time. Instead of heading out to restaurants for a barbecue or steamboat party, why not start your own grill party right at home?
