Snack Spree @ iHerb : It’s A Snack Party! (Vegan-friendly)

Untitled

I’ve always wanted to try out the raw vegan/vegan snacks on iHerb as there’s no way you could purchase it here in Singapore. Even if there is, it can get very pricey. There are about twice or thrice as expensive as your regular snacks like biscuits and chips sold in supermarket.

It isn’t cheap but I thought I should give it a shot and try them out. Who knows? Maybe it is seriously damn awesome that you just have to get it! Also, there are less salty, less oily and contain fewer preservatives and artificial flavorings. Besides, it is interesting to discover what other healthier alternatives available out there. Let’s start off with this popular product on Herb… gummies!

Yummy Earth, Organic Fruit Snacks, Banana, Cherry, Peach and Strawberry, 5 Packs, .7 oz (19.8 g) Each
This is one of iHerb’s best sellers and I finally knew why there were so popular because there’s this burst of natural fruity flavour that is released into your mouth the moment you bite into it. It’s like having a gummy version of a natural fruit. The flavours are more intense than the usual gummies. Yes, it’s more like a fruit snack than a sweet, candy or gummy. If you haven’t try it, you should get it!

Now Foods, Real Food, Organic Brazil Nuts, Unsalted, 10 oz (284 g)

This isn’t my first time trying Now Foods’ organic Brazil nuts but I must say that it is really a good buy. It can be so expensive to purchase here in Singapore because the locals don’t usually consume these type of exotic nuts and they are not sold over at the supermarkets either. Over at iHerb, it is way cheaper.

Also, these unsalted Brazil nuts are a great source of selenium and are perfect for vegetarians and vegans as selenium is a trace mineral found only in meat but it is essential to our health and our well-being. It helps to stimulate the production of antibodies and make special proteins like antioxidant enzymes in our body.

Go Raw, Organic Flax Snax, Pizza, 3 oz (85 g)
These are interesting raw vegan pizza bites which are make in a dehydrator. It does have a savoury pizza flavour too. As compared to the real actual pizzas, these are packed with lots of fibre.

Beanitos, Original Black Bean Chips, with Sea Salt, 6 oz (170 g)
These chips are awesome too. It tasted like nachos except that it doesn’t have that strong corn flavour. Since it is lightly dusted with salt, it has a very mild flavour. I guess you can jazz it up by serving it with salsa or vegan cheese.

Alter Eco, Organic Chocolate, Dark Quinoa, 2.82 oz (80 g)
The quinoa adds a nice crunch to the dark chocolate. It tasted like crunchy puff or biscuit bits dunk in dark chocolate. Not very outstanding but it is just another regular dark chocolate except that it has crunchy bits of quinoa in it.

Alive and Radiant, Kale Krunch, Cheezy Chipotle, 2.2 oz (63 g)
These kale chips are quite impressive. It doesn’t have a cheesy cheese taste but it is ‘smoky’ and savoury. Don’t be fooled by its packaging – it has no actual cheese in it. It uses cashew nuts, nutritional yeast and lemon juice to make raw vegan ‘cheese’. Interesting, isn’t it?

Koyo Natural Foods, Lemongrass Ginger Ramen, 2.1 oz (60 g)

This packet of instant noodles is way overpriced but I guess it is worth the try. Due to the absence of MSG, you won’t feel like your body system is clogged with some artificial salt that makes you constantly feel thirsty.
IMG_3487

It quite nice but maybe blend to some, especially those who love flavourful instant noodles. But I added some other ingredients like vegetables and seaweed to spice things up.

Even its noodles are free of artificial coloring and flavorings.

Yogi Tea, Detox, Caffeine Free, 16 Tea Bags, 1.02 oz (29 g)
Yogi Tea are awesome! I would drink this tea in the late evening and it really calms the nerves down. The spicy warm aroma is also very calming on the body. Whenever  I drink this, I felt less bloated the next morning.

This purple rice and black sesame toast is something I would purchase again and again. It’s a great alternative to crackers and biscuit. Spread some avocado or peanut butter, and there’s a great crunchy snack.

Bare Fruit, Crunchy Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips, 2.2 oz (63 g)
This can’t beat Granny Smith’s cripsy apple chips. I thought the camerelized flavour would stand out but it didn’t. It just tasted like regular apple chips. It has an attractive packaging but it doesn’t taste as great as how it looked.

Navitas Naturals, Organic, Mulberry Berries, Sun-Dried White Mulberries, 8 oz (227 g)
These little sweet berries tasted simply wonderful. They tasted sweet like raisins and it could added to raw vegan recipes.

Go Raw, Organic Spirulina Energy Bars, 10 Bars, 14 g Each

It’s pretty nice because it does fills you up even though it exists in thin slices. The coconut flavour can be quite intense at times but thank goodness for the intense banana flavours.
