House Hi-Tea

Have you been to Singapore’s most picturesque and charming House Hi-Tea Buffet? I bet you haven’t. House’s Hi-Tea is only exclusively available every Thursdays and Fridays from 3pm to 5.30pm. What odd hours! But I can assure you that it is worth taking a day off to enjoy a beautiful spread of savoury bites along with decadent cakes and pies. If you are not permitted to do so, bring your bosses over. It might be one of your regular meeting place with clients from then on.

Taste, savour and enjoy sweet treats like Marie Antoinette.

Are you ready? Grab a tissue. You might just need it to wipe off your drool.

There’s a good selection of both savoury and sweet buffet spread to satisfy those with a sweet tooth and the ‘savoury tooth’.

Every once in a while, House at Dempsey would revamp their menu by introducing their new creations that isn’t quite the norm. It’s not just another delicious chocolate cake, cheese cake or red velvet… it’s more curry brownies. That’s what I was talking about!

It did felt like I was entering someone’s homely kitchen, grabbing a plate from the wooden shelves and piling up my plate with freshly home-made delights, straight up from the kitchen.

House @ Dempsey is also a vegan and vegetarian-friendly restaurant serving vegetarian dishes (indicated on the menu) and fresh fruit juices.

IMG_3364

They also have their exclusive selection of cake which is found nowhere in Singapore except right here, at House. It is their very own creation of cakes.

Let’s check out some of my favorite sweet bites at the buffet table.

Everything here looks really pretty. Even if you aren’t skillful in photography, a perfect shot could be captured at the buffet table – at any angle.

See what I mean?

Every dishes here is infused with a herb; to go along with their garden theme.

Curry leaf almond brownie
Sick of those chocolatey chocolate brownies? House gave brownies an interesting twist with the inclusion of fried curry leaves to the original almond brownie which is spiced up further with sugar, sea salt, and chili flakes. It has a dry and crunchy texture that somewhat excites every taste buds on your tongue. It kind of fired up my sensory nerves as well. Exciting, isn’t it?

There’s a sandwich station which serve up freshly made sandwiches using the following ingredients like Roast Beef with a herb crumb, Cajun Chicken, Roasted mushrooms with feta cheese and thyme (vegetarian option). Sandwiches are served with a choice of lettuce, tomatoes, butter or Mayonnaise, on either Pumpkin seed loaf or Turkish Bread.

Check out their huge tub of leafy greens and comes along with jars of homemade salad dressings.

Some new dishes to check out are their Avocado and Chocolate Cake brightened with dill, Curry Leaf Almond Brownie, Coriander butter shortbread, Papadum and Ginger Butter chicken with Mango Chutney.

IMG_3385
There is a selection of artisan teas – Vanilla Sky (Jasmine Tea and Vanilla), Peppermint (Ginger and peppermint), Hip hop Chai (Vanilla and Cloves black tea) as well as their Homemade Ginger Tea.

Refreshing pineapple juice on a hot and humid day. If you don’t fancy tea, try these lovely juices instead.

The food tasted as good as it looks. And I have some favourites which I usually go for whenever I am there.

IMG_3386

As with every buffets, start off with some greens then the savory antipasti and lastly, the sweet delectable treats.

House’s New Cake Creations!

I also tried out House’s new selection of cakes while I was there. But these are not part of the hi-tea buffet spread.

1. A Slice of Paradise – Coconut biscuit, marscapone cream and pineapple.  (Bottom, right)

$8.50 per slice
2. Guiltless Chocolate Cake – Gluten free dark chocolate cake serve with salted caramel and vanilla ice cream. (Top, left)

$10 per slice
3. Marilah Onde one cake – Pandan sponge layered with Pandan cream and serve with a Gula Melaka sauce. (Bottom, left)
It’s like eating a slice of Kueh Onde one except it is the sponge cake version of it. The flavours are intense and I have to say that this makes a good SG50 cake or a local Singapore cake.
$8.50 per slice
4. It’s Berry Chocolatey – Red Velvet Sponge paired with tangy raspberry. (Top, right)

$8.50 per slice
5. Citrus Surprise – Cheese cake with a coconut base brighten with Yuzu and lime. (Bottom, middle)

$8.50 per slice.
I haven’t had a chance to try all but let me know which is your favourite if you happen to head down!

Doesn’t this reminds you of Christmas?
Christmas is coming!

IMG_3401

This isn’t part of the hi-tea buffet spread but I recommend you to try this light and fluffy version of the  Onde One cake. I reckon that the older generation would love the localized flavor of it.
