The visit to Kumamoto castle took us through the history of Japan where the samurai warriors fought their way through victory. There was a bunch of historic information shared by our tour guide, Fumiko, but it was information overloaded. Yes, there’s only so much information you can retain while at the same time, soaking into the new atmosphere.
This castle is one of the top three castles in Japan and is located right at the city centre. However, some parts of the castle now is under restoration.
In the afternoon, we went for grapes picking at Kichijien. We can pluck as many grapes as we want but we need to finish eating them as we can’t do take-aways.
Lunch at Kikuchi Gorge Mizuno Eki
It was part of our plan to visit Kikuchi gorge but as it was raining rather heavily and we were facing a shortage of time, the trip to the gorge was cancelled. So we proceeded to Kumamoto Kita High School.
We manage to get a peek into the Teachers’ staff room which filled with tonnes of books and papers but it still looked neat and well-kept.
