Last Sunday, I was at Singapore Expo to attend one of SHINE Youth Festival events, titled Project Communi’Bake 2012. This community project involves over 1,000 youths who came together to raise funds for Singapore’s community through baking cupcakes. Through this project, they hope to gather Singapore youths together to “bake, care and share”.
To celebrate our nation’s birthday, 20,000 cupcakes decorated with pastel icings were used to create a mosaic featuring the Singapore’s national flag.
Through this project, the youths has managed to raise about $100,000 for the needy in Singapore!
The Guest-of-Honour Ms Foo Mee Har, the Grassroots advisor Ayer Rajah GROs and MP for West Coast GRC, was there to grace the event.
At around 3.30pm in the afternoon, most of the cupcakes were already assembled except for a few pieces which were to be completed by the guest-of-honour and VIPs of this event.
This is the moment we’ve been waiting for. The bakers were all standing on a higher ground to admire the completed mosaic of our country’s flag. All their hardwork and effort has not gone to waste…
Getting all ready…..Yummmmm..Seng!
The Guinness Book of World Records adjudicator (based in London) was also there to verify the record on the spot.
That’s it! Singapore has just set a new world record in baking the most number of cupcakes!
Are we becoming a cupcake nation, by the way?
Talking about the cupcake craze here in Singapore…
How could I miss this photo opportunity with the lady who holds such an important position in the Guinness Book of World Records corporate?
