FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013: Moiselle + Germain + Ari Dein

So far, I’ve been making my routine visits to FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013 and I’m really starting to find myself sinking deeply into the world of fashion and art. I must say that I’ve been enjoying taking photographs on the runway as it is dynamic and challenging at the same time. For the past few years of blogging and writing, I’ve been taking pictures of still people and things. The platter of chicken wings and sinful cakes doesn’t move on its own. Neither do the people with camera ready-smiles who posed perfectly for the camera. In contrast, on the runway, there are lots of movements and unpredictable moments. It therefore requires me to be always on my toes. I needed to think hard even when shooting. Daunting but adrenaline-kicking at the same time.

That evening’s runway show features Prêt-à-Porter or Ready-to-wear fashion brands by Moiselle, Germaine and Ari Dein.

MOISELLE

( Fall/Winter 2013 Collection)

Moiselle, an international high fashion brand ( based in Hong Kong), is renowned for its elegant cocktail dresses and red carpet worthy evening gowns with intricate embellishments. Though it’s a read-to-wear fashion brand, it also encompasses some pieces which looked rather ‘haute couture’ to me. 

Germain is another high fashion brand which is under the Moiselle Group. It was originally a French design workshop started by a group of design elites in Paris.

Germain’s collection was somewhat more simplistic and made ready-to-wear on the streets, a little closer to the fashion brands you’ll find in the high-end malls. There were several pairings of the outfits with the grey tweed jacket for a more formal look.

Right after Moiselle’s and Germain’s fashion show, all the guests of the evening were ushered into the crystal ballroom in the huge convention hall where Ari Dein’s fashion show could be held at. But seriously, I wasn’t quite expecting to see a lingerie brand presenting their collection during FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013 unless it was held as a fringe activity. 

Ari Dein is an exquisite lingerie brand founded by American designer Arielle Shapiro. Her designs were inspired by the background in architectural designs. 

Right before the show, we were all fighting for space on the media platform and while waiting for the show to start, FIDé Fashion Weeks official photographer took a shot of us with our edgy black DSLRs.
