Orchard Central welcomes Pleatation with its recent grand opening about a couple of weeks ago! Just its name suggest, the world of pleatation is filled with anything is inspired by the unique folds that creates that zig-zag texture. To put it simply, it’s a concept store where you can find all kinds of intricate and uniquely pleated products ranging from apparels, accessories to home and living products.
That night, there was a mini fashion show where the models from Carrie Academy strut down the makeshift carpet runway in Pleatation’s long flowy dresses.
The neat folds or pleats creates a slight 3 dimensional effect in fabrics that made the apparels interesting. That’s simplicity in textured fashion. Sometimes, you just don’t have to go all over the top to appear creative. Being simple itself could sometimes be regarded as one of a kind. I, too, go for simplicity when it comes to fashion.
This red hot dress is more than just a pleated piece of fabric. There’s something special in its material that breezes and ‘flutters’ so elegantly in the wind.
This long pleated black dress had certainly caught my eye with the intricate embroidery that sparkles beautifully under the spot light.
It’s fascinating how a unique fold in fabric can open up to many possibilities in this world. Don’t get caught up in the world thinking that lines must be drawn flat on paper when we could actually make lines pop out.
That night, Pleatation taught me how a simple fold could be woven into many things.
