DAY 39: TOUCHING THE INTANGIBLE
” I believe I can say that I know Him even better because I have met Him in others.”- Hughes.
This saying really led me to think about those stories which I heard from Christians who experience God or witness His presence. Once, there’s this woman who shared with me how she felt God’s presence during her church retreat in Sarawak. She was facing some crisis at that point in time but her experience with God has lifted her up and she felt really blessed.
Even though it was our first meet-up, she shared with me her Godly experience as though I am someone really close to her. After listening to her amazing story, I felt touched. Even though I didn’t have an encounter with God before but through her sharing, it reminded me how real God is. Like how Hughes has put in, in the tangible, I see the intangible.Through the brothers and sisters in Christ, I began to realise that God is a beautiful person, as what Pastor Kenneth has mentioned during the previous church service.
I’ve met Christ in others but sometimes I wish I’ve met Christ personally. Til today, I am still yearning to witness His presence or to hear His voice.Maybe He is speaking to me but I did not make an effort to quieten down my heart from time to time and mediate on His words. In the bible,Elijah has described God’s voice as soft and still.” After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” (1 Kings 19-12)
As you can see, it’s pretty difficult to detect God’s voice unless we are quiet. Coincidentally, I just taught my 8-year-old kids this quote in class today.
” The quieter you are, the more you will hear.” – Ram Dass.
This probably explains why we need to do quiet time everyday in a quiet surroundings with a quiet heart and mind. By doing so, we can gradually train ourselves to hear His holy words. In addition to that, we can also sing a quiet worship song to prepare our hearts to absorb His words.
So, lovely people of God, here’s a lovely worship song I would like to share with you today. Whether or not I could dream about God, He will always be the lover of my soul.
