This year we welcome a new floral display which made its debut this year! It’s Lilytopia in retro-style theme. At the same time, there’s also some Gundam models on display too for all you Gunpla fans.
Did you manage to find the bear guy? The Instagram contest by Gunpla is now over but I think the bear guy is still there and you can still take pictures with this cute yellow fella.
I’ve probably been to this flower dome at Gardens by The Bay for the umpteenth time ever since I was invited to be their Garden Angel, an ambassador for Gardens by The Bay. The only thing to look forward to is their floral display which has brought in lots of exotic flowers like Cherry Blossoms and Tulips. I just hope that they would do a Rose or Peonies floral display and perhaps conduct a floral scent workshop. That would be awesome!
There are some roses within the flower dome (though there were more of such roses previously!). I like to stop and take a sniff of these roses which emits a sweet fragrance. This is nature’s magic potion as it just uplifts your mood.
I am not too sure how these flowers are surviving but it does seem that if there are no insects or bees around to pollinate the flowers then artificial methods of pollination have to be carried out. It can be a lot of work actually to ensure that all the flowers are kept alive.
The crowd situation isn’t too bad and the turn-out wasn’t as big as Cherry Blossoms floral display. And that means that there are plenty of opportunities to take photos of the lilies and time to take as many selfies as you like.
Some beautiful lilies to look out for include Asiatic hybrids like Forever Susan and Tasmania as well as the oriental hybrids like the Auratum and Siberia.
The centrepieces were mainly inspired by the retro music theme as well. You would hear some retro songs playing behind as background music too.
What type of flowers do you like? Let me know in the comment box below!
Lilytopia runs from 3 June to 10 July 2016 at Flower Dome, Gardens By the Bay.
