New hairstyle? Yes! It’s a golden peak period now for all beauty and hair salons because Chinese New Year is just around the corner and everyone wants to look their best when they go for visiting to meet their family, relatives and friends. For me, I just wanted to new and fresh hairstyle for this 2018. Now that I’ve finally reached another milestone in life (Yes, I’m turning 30 this coming May!), I figured that I could be a little more experimental with my hairstyles and outfits so that I could proudly say that I’m living life with no regrets.
Back at 99 Percent
I’m happy to be back here again at 99percent Hair Studio at Bedok Point since I had my haircut there last year in October. Other than the usual perks like free wifi, they’ve got a team of dedicated stylists who enjoy giving their customers’ hair a makeover and taking beautiful photos of their new hairstyles at their little photo corner. As most of you would agree with me, the stylist you choose matter over the salon you chose. As long as the stylist assigned to you is skilful, understanding and passionate, you’re in safe hands.
Since you would probably be spending a few hours at the salon (if you’re up for a hair transformation), they would usually prepare some tea and snacks for you to nibble on. I thought that was a nice gesture.
Current Hairstyle
So here’s my ‘before’ hair transformation look where my hair is looking rather flat and limp. The condition of my hair is quite okay with some split ends, but I didn’t like the running golden streaks at my hair ends. The golden streak was due to hair bleaching treatment I did two years ago at another salon. After the hair consultation, my hairstylist, Cheyra recommended that I could go for a dark brown hair colour to soften the whole look. To boost my hair volume, she suggested that a C-curve Korean volume perm could do some magic to revive my limp hair. It’s a natural and soft inward hair curls which would create this gentle bob hairstyle. It is low maintenance and perfect for me as I didn’t have much time to style my hair on most days.
I was glad that she chose dark brown because I wanted a natural colour of my hair and the C-curve perm sounded like a great idea as I always like to curl my hair ends inwards anyway. With the perm, the curls would be held up for an extended period. According to my stylist, the curls would last for about four months depending on how you maintain it as well.
I also asked for a straight fringe cut as I find that it suits my face shape. With those bangs, it took five years off my age.
Steps
Before proceeding ahead with all the chemical treatments, she applied a hair protectant called Olaplex. This product, in particular, the bond multiplier, helps to strengthen the hair to prevent further hair damage during the chemical treatment.
Next, she started with the C-curve Korean Volume Magic treatment by applying a softening agent to my hair ends.
After shampooing to wash out the softening agent, she did the C-curve Korean perm for me using the curling rods.
The C-curl perming treatment took about a couple of hours, and while waiting, I would kill time by reading some fashion magazines.
Tadaah! The curls were looking pretty awesome at this point. The curls were slightly bouncier at the ends.
Next up, she did a hair colour dye treatment for me. She used a deep brown dye to colour my hair from the roots to the mid-section. To cover up the golden hair streaks, she uses a dark hair colour with a slight green hue to neutralise the yellow undertones.
Final Hairdo
The colour treatment took another 2 hours, and once everything is done, she blew dry and styled my hair nicely for the ‘After’ hairstyle look photo shoot.
How’s that for a hairstyle change? It’s kind of va-va-vroom, right?
That’s my hairstylist, Cheyra. She’s a jovial and dedicated stylist who enjoys interacting with her customers. If you ever need a trusted stylist, here’s one.
Getting a new hairstyle can really transform your overall appearance!
