Taking care of your skin in your thirties is a different ball game altogether when you are in your twenties. In my twenties, my skin recovers so much faster from pimples or any type of skin lesions. But when I hit 30, I start to notice that my skin barrier is now weaker and the skin recovery process has also slowed down a lot.
Skin in your 30’s
The skin care products I used in my twenties are no longer suitable for my current skin condition. Instead of using skincare products that are richer in texture, I find myself adhering to smaller care product ranges and products that are lightweight and can be easily absorbed into the skin. I also find that going for facial treatments is even more crucial right now due to the hormonal changes I experienced in my body and the not-so-great weather in Singapore.
Skincare treatment
I am still heading to Indulgence Beauty for facials except that it’s not so regular anymore as I have shifted place and it is now rather inconvenient for me to head over downtown. With the increase of media events and tastings I have to attend, I have been feeling tired lately and this tiredness is also reflected in my dull-looking skin.
I noticed that the skin around my skin area is highly clogged but I wasn’t sure if it was because of the mask or the way I washed my face. I am just thankful that the facial therapist managed to remove all the gunk from my skin during the extraction.
My therapists carried out the ‘Cool’ treatment or cryotherapy on my skin where my skin is instantly cooled down by a skin probe that is sub-zero degrees. Extreme coldness is said to brighten the skin and tighten the pores. That explains why some women like to dip their faces in icy cold water. For me, it was a much-needed procedure after the extraction step. The coldness from the machine probe also helps to soothe my skin and reduce any redness.
The treatment finished off with an hydrojelly facial mask, Antioxidant Goji by Esthemax. Goji berries are known to contain high amounts of antioxidants, nutrients, and Vitamin C. It is a great face mask for my current skin condition which needs a skin vitality boost.
To really maintain youthful-looking skin right now, I have to ensure that I continue to apply sunscreen regularly and massage my skin with suitable skincare products. Currently, I am using a cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer to maintain my skin. Occasionally, I would use a gua sha tool or jade roller to massage and tone my skin. And besides relying on skincare products, I knew I had to exercise regularly and eat healthily.
I’m really hoping that the skin around my chin will heal soon. Till then, see you in my next skincare blog post!
